Music Director Emeritus/Conductor: Yip Wing-sie
Trombone: Frederic Belli
In this concert, music lovers will be immersed in a world of sound and imagination. Frederic Belli, who has collaborated with numerous top European orchestras and currently serves as the principal trombonist of the SWR Symphony Orchestra in Germany, makes his Hong Kong debut. He joins hands with Yip Wing-sie, Kwai Kwun Music Director of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, to present two trombone concertos. One of them is David's E-flat Major Trombone Concerto, a classic in the trombone repertoire, showcasing the singing quality and majestic demeanor of the instrument. In addition, he will perform 'Visions/L'Etranger', a trombone concerto by Toru Takemitsu that stands out among 20th-century works. Through the composer's meticulously crafted tapestry of light, Belli will embark on a journey of delicate and poetic timbre exploration, revealing a distinct sonic facet of the trombone. As part of his Hong Kong debut, Belli will also collaborate with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta Brass Ensemble on April 22 for a program titled 'Echoes from the Continent', featuring a full brass ensemble.
